After a couple of years that have been harder than most, it has become very apparent just how important the American worker is. With a national shortage of those willing and able to work, many businesses and industries have suffered, so this Labor Day, we celebrate those that have battled through a pandemic, working hard despite the risks and keeping their companies and this country running.
Labor Day dates back to the 1800s when working conditions weren’t safe and hours were insanely long. As unions grew in popularity and workers grew tired, one thing became obvious: The irreplaceable value of the American worker during the industrial revolution. For this reason, a holiday (as well as better pay and better hours) was born to give the people working hard a break and a little bit of recognition.
As the country, and the world for that matter is once again in the midst of an unprecedented struggle, it is once again an important reminder that this weekend isn’t just about a BBQ or a weekend at the lake. It’s to pay tribute to those that kept working even when it was scary and hard, those that put in the long hours and break a sweat to make simple things like getting gas or buying milk possible. For that, we thank you! Happy Labor Day!
