Recent Changes Affecting Your Social Media Marketing ArmWith changes in algorithms, posting limits and software updates, social media marketing is evolving rapidly. Keeping up with multiple platforms can cause you to lose sight of the details that make or break your campaign. Here are just a few of the recent changes that will affect your social media marketing strategy.

LinkedIn Group Automation

Up until a couple months ago you were able to use automation software such as HubSpot to schedule your LinkedIn group posts in bulk. That is no longer the case. In an effort to curb spam messaging, you are now required to go to a group page and manually enter your post. While this does take additional time and may not be ideal, those with an important message are now able to cut through some of the promotions and get noticed organically. It also encourages messaging that is designed to start a conversation and drive engagement, which is the true principle behind LinkedIn.

Facebook Posting Limits

Limits have been set on the number of daily posts allowed on company pages and have caused posts schedule through automation software to fail.  The onus again is on eliminating spam and improving the overall content across the platform. Facebook has yet to place a limit on your number of group posts, as administrators tend to sort through them rather judiciously. Social media posts that encourage engagement, rather than promoting your brand, have become essential to avoid additional posting limitations.

LinkedIn Video

LinkedIn recently added a feature that allows you to upload videos to your newsfeed. This is a potential game changer and those that pounce on the trend quickly are sure to gain recognition. Video has proven to drive engagement and website traffic and that trend is only growing. With LinkedIn posts now going public, this feature offers an opportunity to reach viewers outside the realm of the platform.

LinkedIn Posts Go Public

As stated, LinkedIn posts have now gone public. The significance for marketers is that individual posts now have an opportunity to rank in Google searches. Many great posts have made their way through our LinkedIn newsfeeds and now the most influential ones will be easier to find. Greater focus on keywords and titles will be needed to ensure your posts are optimized. Each post now acts as an extension to your website and adds to your online presence.

A push towards paid ads and an effort to curb spamming practices have led to these changes, and as anyone in social media marketing knows, there are surely more to come.   With social media being such an important part of branding, advertising and your overall inbound marketing plan, keeping up with technological developments is key.
