Winn Technology Group proudly supports our military and joins in on R.E.D. shirt Friday. Our employees represent all ages and demographics from varied backgrounds, several members of our team are former military. After a suggestion from one of our veterans Winn got involved and started participating in Red Shirt Friday. If you’re not familiar with Red Shirt Friday, it stands for “Remember Everyone Deployed” (R.E.D.). The mission of R.E.D is to show support for our military service members letting them know we appreciate their sacrifice and that they are not forgotten. This is not a political organization or movement, it is about showing support for our troops past or present; whether deployed, at home, or abroad by wearing R.E.D. every Friday.
“It’s always interesting when new people join Winn Tech and learn about our R.E.D. Shirt Fridays. They join in, they wear red. Not to mention they spread the word to their friends and families who aren’t aware of how much a red shirt can mean to those who are waiting for their loved ones to return.” Said Kay Giampa, director of HR at Winn Technology.

Lloyd (Doc) Hofmeister, R.E.D Shirt Friday website founder says this, “Although Red Shirt Fridays was not my idea, I became involved and started this web site because I know what it is like to be half a world away from your life, to feel that no one cares, and to come home to be humiliated and ashamed of your service. I have come full circle now. I am no longer ashamed and I realize I never should have been! My hope is that none of our armed forces will ever have to go through this again. I have seen firsthand how troop morale is as important as basic training. If morale is low, mistakes are made and people die.”
Participating is the easiest way for us to show that we support the members of our Armed Forces and appreciate the sacrifices they have made and continue to make in the fight for our freedom both at home and abroad. So this Friday wear your favorite red shirt and play a part in sending a very powerful message of support to our troops.
