information-2907429_640Even though April Fools’ falls on Easter Sunday this year, there’s still time to have some fun at the office. We love to have fun getting the job done here at Winn Technology Group, but that’s not what we’re going to highlight in this article.  We’re going to give you facts about a holiday that is based on humor.  What could be better than that?  Sure, we could go over the classics and new pranks using the latest tech, maybe throw in a funny video, but we decided on facts. So here it is, history and “fun” facts about April Fools’ Day.  Try not to fall out of your chair.

1. “Some historians believe the April Fools' customs began in France, although no one knows for sure.  It may stem from a calendar change in 16th century France -- the moving of New Year's Day from April 1 to January 1 when the Gregorian calendar was adopted.  People who continued to celebrate New Year's Day on April 1st rather than the new date of January 1st were referred to as "April fools" and others played tricks on them.” - CNN

2. “In the 1960s there was only one TV channel in Sweden, which broadcast in black and white. As an April Fools' joke, it was announced that viewers could convert their sets to display color. They simply needed to pull a nylon stocking over the screen.” – The Morning Call

8. “While the origins of the holiday are still somewhat unknown, it IS known that England made April Fools' Day happen (unlike Gretchen Wiener's case for "fetch") in 1700, as a day for people to play pranks on each other.
