Content is king. Blogging and having valuable content is such an important aspect to most businesses. Information is valuable, especially when a customer is reaching out for your valued expertise regularly. However, blogging can be difficult. When it comes to finding the perfect blogging niche it can be hard to decide what you want to tell the world. There are so many things to consider when deciding what kind of voice you want your company blog to have:
What are you passionate about?
Passion can be one of the most relatable emotions when it comes to your readers. They will be able to tell if you’re writing something you care about or not.
What are you reading?
Most bloggers find that their writing style and subject matter can be influenced by the blogs they frequently read. Things that would interest you will attract like-minded individuals.
Who are you blogging for?
Its easy to write a promotional blog. You could probably talk about yourself all day, but that’s not what prospective customers are looking for. Your message should not be sales based, it should be based on what your customer would want to read. Build a buyer persona and go from there. Put yourself in their shoes when choosing blog topics and always ask yourself “If I were my customer, would I find this information valuable?”. If the answer is no, move on to your next idea.
What is your online identity?
Most readers enjoy a more personal tone when reading blogs. They can relate more to an individual than with a corporation so tone down the corporate feel of your blog and make it feel more conversational so your reader is feeling talked to instead of talked at.
Do you have an existing audience?
Having a great base audience is the best way to have an immediate blog following. If you have an existing email list, make sure they are the first to receive the great content you’re creating.
Can you catch their attention?
Readers typically decide if they’re going to open a blog based soley on the title and the lead sentences. Make them count! Bring them in with an emotional or eye catching title and leave them wanting more with the blog preview. Empathize with a potential problem your reader may have and offer them solutions and they won’t be able to pass you up.
The sentiment “If you build it, they will come” rings true when it comes to blogging for your business. Companies who blog 15 times or more a month generate 5 times more leads than those who don’t. Make your blog one that can’t be missed!
