What is your primary tool you use when accessing the internet? Your phone, laptop, tablet, or desktop computer? Most American's that are a part of the digital age tend to use their mobile devices more. Here are a few reason's why tailoring your site to being mobile friendly is important.

More Than Just Smart Phones

Just about everyone in the US over the age of 13 has a mobile phone.  At this point, more than 25 percent of consumers are currently using their mobile devices as their primary business communication tool.  It’s important to note that tablets and eReaders are also gaining popularity.  It’s a very good possibility that your target consumer has a smart phone with them right now.

Operating Systems and Apps

The efficiency and reliability of mobile operating systems has increased significantly over the last few years.  This has made it much easier to advertise and market through them.  It’s also made it easier to support them.  The app market is enormous and is growing rapidly.  The convenience of being able to click on an app rather than navigating to a website cannot be taken lightly.  Developing apps that make your products or services easier to use and track will make you stand out from the competition.

Reach

Nearly 8 billion people in this world currently own and use mobile devices. Although not all of these devices are internet capable, around 4 billion people are active internet users. This means you have 4 billion chances to get your message out there to internet users and drum up new business. Through the use of different apps and mobile websites there is a lot of opportunity to reach potential customers you didn’t even know you had.

Immediate and Personal

When you are comparing the differences between desktop computers and mobile devices, one of your first thoughts should be responsiveness. The average email is opened in about 90 minutes while the average text is opened in 90 seconds. More than 90 percent of Americans have their mobile device within reach 24/7. You more than likely will not be texting your potential customers, but these numbers show that if your marketing messages were displaying on their mobile devices they are much more likely to see it, and see it sooner.

Mobile Website Are Getting Better

Most companies have a website at this point in the game but there are still some that have not implemented making their website mobile compatible. There is engineering that can be done to ensure that your website it able to present itself nicely no matter the screen size that is accessing it. There is also the added benefit of your website using gestures that smart phones typically have that can make the browsing experience even more seamless for your site visitors. If you have not already implemented a mobile site it would be a great idea to start since it’s only going to get better.
